Section I -- The Scoreboard Becomes the Game

In March 2026, prediction markets processed $25.7 billion in monthly trading volume. Kalshi crossed $12 billion. Polymarket crossed $10 billion. Both hit all-time highs. The industry is on pace to exceed $200 billion in annual volume by the end of the year.

These are not casinos adjacent to the news. They are inside it.

In December 2025, CNN signed an exclusive data partnership with Kalshi. The deal puts real-time prediction market odds into the hands of CNN's chief data analyst, Harry Enten, who now reports on-air probabilities sourced directly from a betting platform -- covering politics, culture, weather, and general news. Two days later, CNBC signed its own exclusive deal with Kalshi, embedding a live probability ticker into Squawk Box and Fast Money. In January 2026, Polymarket secured an exclusive partnership with Dow Jones, placing prediction market data modules across The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch, and Investor's Business Daily -- including homepage placements and print editions. In April 2026, Fox Corporation completed the set, integrating Kalshi data across Fox News, Fox Business, Fox Weather, and the Fox One streaming platform.

Google Finance began displaying real-time prediction market odds from both Kalshi and Polymarket alongside traditional stock data in November 2025.

The infrastructure is now complete. A viewer can watch CNN report on an event, see the live odds of that event changing as CNN reports on it, place a bet on the outcome through the platform supplying CNN's data, and watch the odds shift again in response to the bets placed in response to the coverage. The loop does not hide. The loop is the product.

BUREAU NOTE: The Bureau wishes to clarify that the merger of the scoreboard and the game is not a failure of the system. It is the system. The news industry spent a century claiming to observe events from the outside. It has now formalised the arrangement by which it observes events from the inside and charges admission. Your participation is appreciated and priced in.
